The new generation of iPod Nano’s made their long anticipated appearance yesterday at Apple’s “Let’s Rock” US press conference, and effectively put an end to the ongoing speculation over rumors of it‘s alleged (and now confirmed) new form factor.

Chaired Apple supremo, Steve Jobs, the press conference also served as a launch pad for several other Apple products such as an enhanced iPod Touch, as well as a spanking new version of iTunes. More details on the new products after the jump.

Apple iPod Nano (4th Generation)
Touted to be the thinnest iPod ever, the fourth generation iPod Nano features a new sleek form factor that’s elegantly housed in an aluminum and glass enclosure. Available in nine vibrant colors, the changes to the new Nano go deeper than just it’s looks.

Among the other changes include a new function called “Genius” which allows users to create play lists with just the touch of a button, a redefined user interface, a high resolution portrait display, and a built-in accelerometer that switches into Cover Flow when rotated and goes into Shuffle mode when shaken.

The 8GB model retails for US$149 while the 16G model will go for US$199.

Apple iPod Touch (2nd Generation)
Named the “Funnest iPod ever”, the second generation iPod Touch comes in a slightly updated form factor. Marginally smaller and lighter than the original, the new Touch also boasts a couple of subtle improvements.

A built-in speaker has been included to this new version for casual listening, as well the “Genius” play list creating feature similar to that found on the Nano. However, if that hasn’t gotten you running to the stores to for one (no pun intended), then the inclusion of Nike + connectivity just might.
The new iPod Touch will come in three size variants which are 8GB (US$229), 16GB (US$299) and 32GB (US$399).

  1. Nice layout.

In the first sentence, you spelled “Nanos” incorrectly. It does not have an apostrophe. Never make anything plural with an apostrophe. Have a good day!
